    I completely understand how ones drive can be squashed by a cramped and messy workshop, and congratulate you on your makeover - which looks fantastic - and make me very envious. I also admire your latest version of the Pony Rocker - the contrasting wood eyes and the mouth cutout along with the other changes. It almost makes me want to dig out my router patterns and make yet another one myself.

      Don, great to hear from you again, how's things? Cheers for the kind words, very much appreciated. And yep, the little pony came out really nicely this time around. The only slight concern I have is that being that this one was made from a hardwood, it's quite heavy compared to the others that I've made. Not a huge issue as you don't normally pick these up and go for a walk, but I did give the new owners a long chat around making sure they're watching the little ones as they play, would hate for a small hand to be stepped on by this pony!

    • @woodfather
      @woodfather День тому

      I'm incredibly lucky to have so much space, I know. Originally when we bought 20 years ago we were going to put a car in here, but after one night of "open gates, move car, close gates, open garage door, move car, close garage door", my wife and I gave up and decided to to use this space for storage only. 😆 I've always had to share it with non workshop things, so yep, all the bikes, scooters, mini electric ride on cars, lawnmowers, etc, it's only since this renovation that I've finally taken the whole thing over for myself. I'll cross my my fingers for you that one day in the future you get the same luck! 🤞

    Great plan! I just made one myself. I’ve got no real improvements to add that haven’t been said already, but it’s taking awhile to get the fingers sized just right. It may be the spacer I’m using, or the height of my blocks (they’re lower than yours - leaving some wiggle room between them and my spacer resulting in differently sized fingers). But I think I’ve got it sorted. I just wanted to say thanks for this plan. It’s really helped me!

    Good for the price... Has 2 other sister companies that uses the same battery for all three brands. Wadfow, Total. Although, the chargers are finicky. The tools can use the batteries for any of the 3 brands. Some brands has more variety but all in all it's a skin change mostly for all tool. If you like yellow and black to for Ingco, green and gray go for Total, blue and orange go for Wadfow. I sampled all three. My Wadfow cut-off tool works with Ingco batteries and my Ingco tools can use Wadfow batteries. For total I only got a 12v screwdriver..not a fan of green.

    I’ve got several Incra tools, including the Indra router table and LS positioner. All the tools are very accurate and robust and, whilst not cheap, not in the Woodpecker re-mortgage area. I don’t use the fancy joinery part of the positioner. For dovetails, they look machine made and I prefer the look of hand cut. For all the other fancy stuff, it’s just too….fancy for my taste. For me, the positioner is about accuracy and repeatability. Matched with a Jessem lift, i wouldn’t change it. Gripes? Only really that setting the 2 separate fences to be co-planar (in a straight line) is not as easy as it could be it’s almost over complicated. And all the adjustment bolts have a nasty habit of coming loose - not great for accuracy. But, I just check everything is tight and straight before I cut. Several years ago, I watched a video about products from Banggood and was intrigued. I bought a square from there wondering about its accuracy. When it came, it was spot on. What I did work out is that Banggood is a shop like Amazon. So, coming from Banggood is no guarantee of crap or quality. Look for the brand. Since that beginning, I’ve probably got 20 pieces through Banggood from either Veiko or Hongdui. Excellent. Everyone is as accurate as I want it (I’m not yet building a space rocket) and, at the very least, as good a quality as the expressive brands but, in most most case, far better quality. For a fraction of the price of the brands. I detest the Chinese Government. I’m not happy with many governments -US, UK, Australia but even they struggle to be as barbaric as the Chinese. Am I helping the Chinese government if I buy from Banggood? Yes, in terms of taxes and in terms of providing employment. But the alternative is to put my hard earned money into the hands of the big brands who, I believe, exploit their brands far above the actual cost plus price of the goods. For example, aluminium of any grade is a global commodity. So it costs about the same anywhere on the world. The CNC machines that make the stuff are, again, a global commodity and it’s reasonable to think that a machine of a certain capability costs the same around the world. Finally, labour. Here Chinese sweatshops will be cheaper but there is very little labour involved in the making of a square or a ruler. I don’t forget that almost everything in this world has a China connection; either made in Chins or made by something that comes from China. I certainly won’t listen to the entreaties of Biden, Trump, Sunak, Cameron to buy national as those people also have the morals of rotten fish. So, I’m not happy to put some money into the hands of the Chinese government but neither am I happy to make certain CEO’s even richer than they need to be.

      Mine is melamine with an MDF core. I've had this for maybe 3 years now and love it. My older homemade router table that I built 10+ years ago was also melamine, it held up really well even though I used as a workbenh more often than not, hammering and gluing away on it. I'm not sure what advantages a cast iron top brings for a router table to be honest, for me, melamine is more than good enough. 👍

      Hmm, I'm not sure how you see that happening, is there a specific time in the video it looks concerning? For what it's worth, I've been using this, very often, for the past 8 years or so. Kickback, or any type of jamming/binding/etc, has never been an issue.

      @@woodfather I'm no expert, but here's my analysis. These two factors increase the kickback risk significantly: 1) the lateral sliding nature of the jig, 2) the cuts aren't through cuts. Those two things together mean that if you have a hiccup and slide the jig left or right within the pin space while over the back of the blade you could have a fairly serious event. You could reduce the chance of this happening by clamping the jig and workpiece all together each time, but that is going to reduce your efficiency significantly. Kickback is prevalent when there is pinching (not your case) and when the workpiece has the potential to spin or twist over the top or back of the blade. As long as you're only cutting fairly thin material I would assume this risk is also mitigated somewhat. In summary, it's probably not too risky as long as nothing moves and everything is held firmly, but the lateral sliding nature of the jig provides an extra vector to tragedy.

    Thanks Mario! I've been thinking about getting one of these for the same reasons. Now I think that I will. And yes, more amp hours means more torque. On the guide demo, you'll notice that the battery warning light was flashing (5:42), which will also trip the cut-off prematurely. Soft start is also a lot kinder on batteries as well as nice in your hand when it comes to life.

      Hi Jason, it's been about a year since I've had this, and I'm still a big fan, really useful tool that works quite well. I pretty much always use the 4amp batteries with it now, rookie mistake of mine for not doing so from the start lol, but haven't had any issues with it in that time since. Cheers for watching!

    Bir süredir kablolu olan ve eksik olan aletlerimi tamamlamak için araştırma yapıyordum. Einhell benzeri Alman markalarının kablolu cihazlarını kullanıyordum. Batarya olayı hoşuma gitti ve her aleti farklı marka ve batarya ile kullanmak iyi bir fikir olmayacağından Einhell'de karar kıldım. Şu anda 20 kadar Einhell ürünüm var bunlardan sadece biri kablolu (hot glue gun). Bir tane de çivi çakma tabancası almak istedim. Burada , sizdeki model ile fixetto arasında amazon prime indirimi sayesinde az fark olunca fixetto aldım. Yalnız çivi çakabilmesi kötü. Oysa zımba da çakabilseydi iyi olurdu. Artık onun için de başka bir model alırım. Videonuza denk geldim. Konuyu ele alma biçiminiz ve tarzınız bence tam olması gerektiği gibi. Bilinçsiz kullanıcılar gibi şu düğme sanırım şu işe yarıyor demeden anlatmışsınız. Diğer videolarınızda da umarım bana uygun içerikler vardır. Bakış açılarımız benzer olduğundan tecrübelerinizden faydalanmak benim için iyi olacak. Türkiye'den sevgi ve saygılar. Teşekkürler.

    Hi, I have the same laser machine, that long thumb screw fits into the laser bracket on the left side, it is an additional locking screw for when you use the laser at high speed.

    • @woodfather

      Oh interesting, I just assumed it was what they were used to packing for other versions of the laser, so it kept getting thrown in there out of habit! I'll take a look next time I'm in the shop to see how it works. 👍

    Useful video - thanks! I have mainly Dewalt tools although we do have a few Einhell (we’re in UK) gardening tools. If I got one of these I could just use the red batteries but I think you can get an adaptor to make Dewalt fit.

      I think that's one of the most amazing features of 3D printers, you can use them to make adaptors for anything it seems. I haven't tried myself, I'm worried if I buy a 3D printer I'll get carried away and not return to my other hobbies! Cheers Nigel!

    got your plans, implemented, tested, made it. got perfect results for 70cm width oak table ! made my wife super happy. thanks! few notes - different wood types (soft vs hard) behave diffarently. make your test and tune the pin on same wood you use - saw creates small cracks/chips. need to use fine saw (more teeth) and work slowly. must say I haven't fully resolved that.

    • @woodfather
      @woodfather 2 місяці тому

      Oh that's awesome, well done! If you have any pics of the table to share, I'd love to see them! As for the cracks/chips, is that possibly tear-out? If so, drop a sacrificial backer piece in behind your actual workpieces when you're cutting, and it should resolve your problem. Send an email with pics if it's something else and I'll try help diagnose it. 👍

    One note that a lot of people overlook is the two aluminum couplers for the Y axis drive, the couplers need to be positioned so that *each shaft is only "grabbed" by that half of the coupler*. You should be able to see daylight in the slot where each shaft's position is ONLY in it's half of the coupler. Just don't slip it on and tighten, you need to make sure that when the shafts are "coupled", you can see the gap down the middle of the coupler. This way there is the ability to transfer the connecting rod motion WITH the slight bit of motion, (like a universal joint), so if there is any alignment issues, the couplers will allow transfer of motion without stressing the union.... (I used a feeler Gauge inserted in the slot and when each shaft hit the gauge, it was good to tighten)....
